Every month after the program – technical and moral support for your genealogical searches – roadblocks and triumphs! Use of Library computers in the computer classroom, computer lab, or free wifi wih your laptop or our laptops. Computer Guest Passes available to those out-of-state. Newcomers always welcomed at the meetings. Your presence makes you a Stateline Genealogy Club member!

March 13, 2015 – “Beloit Historical Society Resources – Tour at BHS 845 Hackett St, Beloit, WI 53511, INSTEAD of the meeting. Meet at the BHS.
April 10, 2015 – “Lifewriting Workshop – writing our own stories to share with our families, the kind of stories we wish our ancestors had written”, by Judy Rockwell. Bring a photo from your past that you might like to write about. Learn how to see more about your ancestors’ lives in the process of reflecting your own life.
May 8, 2015 -“Getting Your Genealogy Paperwork Organized A to Z” – webinar – Judy Nichols. Use this opportunity to bring your paperwork and folders/notebook supplies to work on your own organizing, if you wish.
June 12, 2015 – “Genealogy Resources of the Beloit LDS Family History Center”, by Nancy Ritter, Beloit Latter Day Saints Family History Center Director who will give a program at the Beloit Public Library on what is offered if you go to the Center.
July 10, 2015 – “Exploring ‘IrishAncestors.net’ created by Sean Quinn”, by Vicki Hahn. An extensive web site for anything Irish. Learn techniques for using websites to search for any ancestry.
Saturday, July 18, 2015 – 1) tour and genealogy research at Milwaukee County Historical Society, 910 N. Old World Third Street, Milwaukee, 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. and 2) genealogy research at Milwaukee Public Library Frank P. Zeidler Humanities Department 814 W. Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee 11:00 – 4:00 p.m.. Cost $5 ($4 students/seniors 62 and older) for Historical Society admission; contribute gasoline money, and your own lunch. (Note – there is a cafe at the Milwaukee Public Library, but outside food is not allowed.) Meet at Beloit Public Library front lobby to car-pool, or travel on your own and meet us there at 9:30 a.m. for tour. Open to anyone.

September 11, 2015 – “Contemporary Fashion – Through the Decades; How to Identify your Ancestors’ Timelines by What They Wore”, by Vicki Hahn. Bring photographs, pictures, or historic articles of clothing to learn how to identify the year.
October 9, 2015 – Wisconsin Historical Society – Live Webinar with Lori Bessler in preparation for a tour of WHS Wisconsin Historical Society. Lori has several changes to WHS and the catalog to share with us.
Friday – October 23 2015 – Tour and Genealogy research at (WHS) Wisconsin Historical Society, Madison WI. Travel by Van Galder Coach USA bus from South Beloit, IL Terminal (cost $18 and your own lunch). Bus departs 8:10 am, arrives on 800 University AVE, Madison (One block from WHS) at 9:35 a.m. We will have a short tour at 10 a.m. , and time for your own research in the Library and archives. WHS is open until 5:00 p.m. Bus leaves 4:30 p.m., returns 5:55 pm. The last bus leaves at 6 p.m. Meet at 8 a.m. at South Beloit Van Galder bus terminal, 15766 Manchester Rd, near MacDonald’s. Cost $18 round trip; bus tickets purchased at terminal. Or travel on your own and meet us there for 10 a.m. tour. Open to anyone.

November – “Revolutionary War Period Research: DAR and Other Lineage Societies”, two Genealogy/Local History opportunities, by Katherine Kemnitz. It is the ‘Revolutionary War Period Research” period of time, and not necessarily just the war years (1775-1783). Many people may just be interested in where their families lived, worked, etc. during the early years of this country:
November 13, 2015 – Presentation of a case study of genealogy research on the Revolutionary War period to prove Lineage Societies membership, and general genealogy searching techniques used. Then participants using Library computers, (or their own laptops) will be taught how to do it.
Tour – Friday, November 20, 2015 – of Rasey House. DAR members and the Rasey House Board will lead a tour of the Rasey House, 517 Prospect St, Beloit WI, one of the last Beloit area historic cobblestone houses, and Beloit Chapter DAR headquarters. Meet at the Rasey House to learn about DAR and local Beloit history.
December 11, 2015 – “Second Cousins Twice Removed? The Key to Understanding Family Relationships.” by Vicki Hahn. Bring your relationship questions to get an answer.
